New Movie : “Kiss and Tell”
Posted by Kayla • On February 25, 2010 • No Comments

Isla Fisher looks set to be the leading lady in a new romantic comedy about a woman able to tell how a relationship will pan out by the quality of the first kiss.

The actress, who grew up in Perth and will soon marry Sacha Baron Cohen, shone as a crazy bridesmaid in Wedding Crashers with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson and is known for her comedic ability.

Up in the Air Oscar nominee Sheldon Turner will co-produce the flick, to be called Kiss and Tell, according to Variety.

Fisher has carved a career by choosing quirky characters in humorous flicks.

She starred in Defninitely Maybe opposite Ryan Reynolds, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Scooby-Doo and Wedding Daze.

Kiss and Tell looks set to continue this pattern, with her character possessing the gift (or curse) of knowing from that first pash whether a relationship will work out.

Isla has joined the cast of “Burke and Hare”
Posted by Kayla • On January 22, 2010 • No Comments

Isla Fisher, Andy Serkis and Tom Wilkinson have joined Simon Pegg in “Burke and Hare,” a horror comedy that marks John Landis’ return to feature directing after more than 10 years.

Written by Piers Ashworth and Nick Moorcroft, “Hare” is based on the true story a pair of the U.K.’s earliest serial killers, William Burke and William Hare, gravediggers who lucratively sold the corpses of their victims to a medical college for dissection.

Serkis, fresh off a leading actor BAFTA nomination for “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll,” will play Hare opposite Pegg’s Burke. (David Tennant was tipped for the role but bowed out when he joined the NBC pilot “Rex Is Not My Lawyer.”)

Fisher will play Pegg’s girlfriend, an actress looking for a patron who might or might not be an accomplice to the murders.

Wilkinson will play Dr. Robert Knox, an anatomy lecturer looking for fresh corpses.

The movie begins shooting Jan. 31 in Edinburgh and London, bringing Landis back to the scene of his 1981 hit “An American Werewolf in London.”

Barnaby Thompson is producing; Ealing Studios’ James Spring is executive producing.

Fisher, repped by CAA and Mosaic, most recently appeared in “Confessions of a Shopaholic.”

Serkis, repped by Lou Coulson Associates and Principal Entertainment, is best known for his work as Gollum in the “Lord of the Rings” movies and in “King Kong.” He is portrays Captain Haddock in Steven Spielberg’s “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.”

Wilkinson next appears in Roman Polanski’s “The Ghost Writer” and recently wrapped shooting Michel Gondry’s “The Green Hornet” for Sony

Isla in “Desperados”?
Posted by Audrey • On November 11, 2009 • No Comments

Isla Fisher is eyeing “Desperados,” a feature comedy described as a female-oriented “Hangover.”

The story is set in motion when a woman sends an indignant e-mail to her new beau, who’s gone silent after they have sex. When she discovers he’s comatose in a Mexican hospital, she races south of the border with her friends in tow to intercept the e-mail before he recovers.

The project is being developed at Universal by Mark Gordon (”2012″) and Jason Blum, one of the producers behind the surprise horror hit “Paranormal Activity.” It was written by Ellen Rapoport.

Fisher, the Australia-raised fiancee of “Borat” star Sacha Baron Cohen, last starred in “Confessions of a Shopaholic.” She made her breakthrough as a twisted bridesmaid in 2005’s “Wedding Crashers.”

FISHER LOVES ALL THINGS JEWISH
Posted by Z.Marie • On March 04, 2009 • No Comments

Actress ISLA FISHER converted to Judaism so she could have a big Jewish wedding – and she has fallen in love with the religion.
The Aussie Wedding Crashers star plans to wed observant Jew Sacha Baron Cohen soon – and offered to become Jewish as a mark of respect to her fiance and his parents.
And she’s glad she took the faith – because she loves the traditions of Judaism.
Fisher says, “I sort of fell in love with Judaism. I love the rituals and it’s all about family, which is what I believe to be the secret to happiness.”
And though the couple has no wedding date set, new mum Fisher insists it will be soon: “I do have to get married.”
And she’s already making big plans when it comes to her wedding dress: “I’d love to make it myself.”

Isla Fisher: Motherhood great, Shopping, not so much
Posted by Z.Marie • On March 02, 2009 • No Comments

Australian actress Isla Fisher, star of the movie Confessions of a Shopaholic, admits that shopping isn’t really her thing. Though the Australian actress plays Rebecca Bloomwood, the fashion and shopping-addicted heroine of Shopaholic, she says she doesn’t care much for shopping. “I don’t really enjoy it. I like to get in and get out with a purpose,” she told the Sidney Daily Telegraph.

Motherhood, however, suits her wonderfully.

Fisher, who has a 16-month-old daughter with British actor Sacha Baron Cohen, likes the idea of providing baby Olive with a sibling. Speaking to Carly Crawford in New York, Fisher said, “My first responsibility is to my family.”

Having grown up in relatively isolated Western Australia Fisher told Canadian website moviesonline.ca that living in the country allowed her and her four brothers a great upbringing, where they “rode horses and had a very outdoorsy life.”

Playing someone addicted to shopping may have been fun, but clearly Isla Fisher’s heart is with her family, which she hopes to add to soon.
