Isla Fisher cast in “Now You See Me”

Isla Fisher is in talks to star in new magician heist thriller Now You See Me. The Wedding Crashers star will join Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman, Mark Ruffalo and Melanie Laurent in the film about The Four Horsemen, a team of the world’s greatest illusionists who pull off daring bank heists during their performances and shower their audience with the profits. Isla is in negotiations to play Henley, a master technician who builds the contraptions needed to create the illusions, Variety reports. Amanda Seyfried had previously been linked to the role. Jesse will play the arrogant but genius leader of the Four Horsemen, Mark will play the head of the FBI team investigating the heists, Morgan will play a former magician and Melanie one of the federal agents. Louis Leterrier is directing from a script by Edward Ricourt and Boaz Yakin. Isla is currently in Australia filming Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, in which she plays Myrtle Wilson, a married woman who has an affair with Tom Buchanan (Joel Edgerton).

Isla Fisher In Talks To Join ‘The Great Gatsby’ Cast

Ben Affleck may have found both his love interests for “The Great Gatsby.” With Carey Mulligan set to play Tom Buchanan’s wife (and the story’s leading lady) Daisy, it seems that Isla Fisher may play his mistress, Myrtle.

The Hollywood Reporter has the news, and while neither Affleck nor Fisher has confirmed their parts in Baz Luhrmann’s 3-D adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic tale, they would join an A-list cast of already confirmed actors including Leonardo DiCaprio as the Great (Jay) Gatsby, the aforementioned Mulligan (who is Gatsby’s one true love) and Tobey Maguire as the story’s narrator, Nick Carraway, a man that finds himself perplexed by his pal’s somewhat questionable actions.

The part of Myrtle is small but pivotal. Not to spoil it for the seven of you who probably aren’t familiar with the story, but it’s her fateful death that leads to the novel’s tragic ending. Continue reading

New Movie : “Kiss and Tell”

Isla Fisher looks set to be the leading lady in a new romantic comedy about a woman able to tell how a relationship will pan out by the quality of the first kiss.

The actress, who grew up in Perth and will soon marry Sacha Baron Cohen, shone as a crazy bridesmaid in Wedding Crashers with Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson and is known for her comedic ability.

Up in the Air Oscar nominee Sheldon Turner will co-produce the flick, to be called Kiss and Tell, according to Variety.

Fisher has carved a career by choosing quirky characters in humorous flicks.

She starred in Defninitely Maybe opposite Ryan Reynolds, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Scooby-Doo and Wedding Daze.

Kiss and Tell looks set to continue this pattern, with her character possessing the gift (or curse) of knowing from that first pash whether a relationship will work out.

Isla has joined the cast of “Burke and Hare”

Isla Fisher, Andy Serkis and Tom Wilkinson have joined Simon Pegg in “Burke and Hare,” a horror comedy that marks John Landis’ return to feature directing after more than 10 years.

Written by Piers Ashworth and Nick Moorcroft, “Hare” is based on the true story a pair of the U.K.’s earliest serial killers, William Burke and William Hare, gravediggers who lucratively sold the corpses of their victims to a medical college for dissection.

Serkis, fresh off a leading actor BAFTA nomination for “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll,” will play Hare opposite Pegg’s Burke. (David Tennant was tipped for the role but bowed out when he joined the NBC pilot “Rex Is Not My Lawyer.”)

Fisher will play Pegg’s girlfriend, an actress looking for a patron who might or might not be an accomplice to the murders.

Wilkinson will play Dr. Robert Knox, an anatomy lecturer looking for fresh corpses.

The movie begins shooting Jan. 31 in Edinburgh and London, bringing Landis back to the scene of his 1981 hit “An American Werewolf in London.”

Barnaby Thompson is producing; Ealing Studios’ James Spring is executive producing.

Fisher, repped by CAA and Mosaic, most recently appeared in “Confessions of a Shopaholic.”

Serkis, repped by Lou Coulson Associates and Principal Entertainment, is best known for his work as Gollum in the “Lord of the Rings” movies and in “King Kong.” He is portrays Captain Haddock in Steven Spielberg’s “The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.”

Wilkinson next appears in Roman Polanski’s “The Ghost Writer” and recently wrapped shooting Michel Gondry’s “The Green Hornet” for Sony

Isla in “Desperados”?

Isla Fisher is eyeing “Desperados,” a feature comedy described as a female-oriented “Hangover.”

The story is set in motion when a woman sends an indignant e-mail to her new beau, who’s gone silent after they have sex. When she discovers he’s comatose in a Mexican hospital, she races south of the border with her friends in tow to intercept the e-mail before he recovers.

The project is being developed at Universal by Mark Gordon (“2012”) and Jason Blum, one of the producers behind the surprise horror hit “Paranormal Activity.” It was written by Ellen Rapoport.

Fisher, the Australia-raised fiancee of “Borat” star Sacha Baron Cohen, last starred in “Confessions of a Shopaholic.” She made her breakthrough as a twisted bridesmaid in 2005’s “Wedding Crashers.”
